Funding boost for Yarra Valley Soccer Club
November 21, 2018
Daniel Andrews has lost control of population growth and it’s hurting community sport in our local suburbs.
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $100,000 towards the redevelopment of facilities at the Yarra Valley Soccer Club.
The funding boost will help the club progress their plans for new male and female change rooms and toilets, umpires room, function and canteen facilities.
As the only soccer club in the Upper Yarra Valley the club is experiencing increased participation rates as more young families move into the region.
The growing popularity of soccer for young boys and girls and adults means the club’s current facilities have outgrown their use.
Daniel Andrews has allowed population growth to get out of control, putting more pressure on local sporting clubs, leaving them to rely on fundraising efforts to build vital infrastructure like change rooms.
With Victoria’s growing population, it’s important that we keep investing in local sporting clubs, so that we can make sure everyone has access to quality sporting facilities.
The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and stand up for all Victorians, unlike the city-centric Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Labor has been in office in Victoria for 15 of the last 19 years and it has badly neglected local sporting clubs.
“Only a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of grassroots sport and provide our community sporting clubs with the facilities they need and deserve.”
Comments attributable to Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish:
“Sports clubs like Yarra Valley Soccer Club are experiencing growth in participation and are finding it difficult to keep up with the increased demand for quality sporting facilities.
“Yarra Valley Soccer Club is making a huge contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community. This funding will help the club deliver the facilities it needs to encourage more people to get involved in local sport.
“Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberals are getting behind local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.”
